Victoria Paluzzi Memorial Scholarship Application

Victoria Paluzzi was our beloved former chairwoman and had a dream of offering a scholarship to our members to help cover the cost of their checkride at any stage of their flight journey.  The purpose of this scholarship is to award one applicant up to $800 to be used toward their checkride.  

 

Application will open on March 18, 2024 and due on April 1, 2024. The scholarship will be awarded by May 31, 2024.

Eligibility: 

-Applicant must be at least 16 years of age by April 1, 2024

-Applicant must have completed her applicable written exam for certificate or rating sought. 

-Applicant must be a female resident of Nevada in Clark, Nye, Lincoln or Esmeralda county.

To Apply, submit the following: 

Scholarship application attached below which includes:

-Applicant Essay of at least 500 words (one-page maximum). Includes specific information on her aviation short-term and long-term goals, community and aviation involvement, and how the scholarship will help achieve those goals. 

-Copies of both sides of the last two pages of her logbook.

-Copy of her medical certificate

-One Letter of Recommendation by an instructor, co-worker, teacher, employer, etc. who has known the applicant for at least six months.

Additional Information: 

-Checkride must be completed within 12 months of award. Winning applicant’s award will be forfeited if the practical exam/checkride is not completed on or before May 31, 2025. 

-Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship committee and awarded by May 31st, 2024

-Funds will be distributed to the applicant for reimbursement after proof of checkride is submitted.  Proof will include an invoice of the checkride and the name & phone number of the Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). 

-Winner will be responsible for any exam fees greater than $800, or any exam discontinuance/retesting fees. 

-Winner may be asked to submit a photo and flying biography for publicity purposes.
